Wilderness Boys To Face The Mariners In Big Pre-Season Finale Built On Local Pride And Connection
We’re delighted to announce that Grimsby Borough will conclude our preparations for the upcoming Northern Premier League Division One East campaign with a headline friendly against our EFL neighbours Grimsby Town, with the ‘Dock Tower Derby’ taking place at the Technica Home of Boro on Tuesday 4th August (7pm kick-off).
The two clubs will bring down the curtain on their respective pre-season schedules in what has become a fantastic annual event anticipated by supporters and the community as a whole, and with the meeting coming just four days before the season gets underway for the Wilderness Boys and the Mariners, it’ll be a great opportunity to see how new signings have settled in to both camps as anticipation builds for the year ahead.
We’re equally pleased to share that we’re partnering with St Andrew's Hospice for the fixture, a wonderful local charity close to the heart of many supporters of both clubs and the local area as a whole.
We’ll be aiming to raise as much vital funds as possible for the Hospice in multiple ways, firstly through ticket sales, as, should we be able to sell a certain amount, the profits will be donated to a cause that means a great deal to Borough and Grimsby Town, with the Mariners’ Goalkeeping Coach Steve Croudson an ambassador for St Andrew’s.
In addition to this, there will also be further fundraising initiatives on the day, such as raffle ticket sales, as we look to make the most of what we’re sure will be an enjoyable evening for everyone in attendance, while proving beneficial off the pitch, too.
The close links between the two clubs are long-standing, and something that’s hugely appreciated by everyone at Grimsby Borough. The Mariners have trusted us with many of their young talents through loan spells at step four of the non-league pyramid in recent years, and the shared resources through both continues to be invaluable and a source of pride for everyone associated with the Wilderness Boys.

Tickets, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and under-18’s, are available to purchase from the Grimsby Town Ticket Office, so don’t miss out on what will be a fantastic occasion in more ways than one as we look to make it a night to remember.
Keep your eyes peeled on our socials for further updates ahead of the game, as well as a look at what makes the relationship between the Wilderness Boys and the Mariners so special to many in the region.
