Grimsby Borough Football Club and St Andrew’s Hospice: A Proud Community Collaboration
Grimsby Borough are delighted to be partnering with much cherished local charity St Andrew’s Hospice for Tuesday evening’s highly anticipated friendly against EFL side Grimsby Town at the Technica Home of Boro (7pm kick-off).
The Hospice, soon approaching 50 years in existence having first opened its doors in early 1980, has touched the lives of many in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and the wider region in that time through providing free, high quality, specialist, holistic provisions for those of all ages with life-limiting health issues, alongside offering compassionate support practices to family members and people close to those going through palliative and end-of-life care.
The services St Andrew’s provide are vital and invaluable to the community of North East Lincolnshire and beyond, and to help drive this forward, Borough as an entity will also be continuing to support the Hospice as our nominated charity for the whole of the 2026/27 season, a unison also closely associated with new Finance Director Andrew Moorby and DH Tuck, with the Hospice included on our new away kit sponsored by the aforementioned Accountancy firm.
Alongside the contribution made to St Andrew’s through admission takings from tomorrow's clash with the Mariners, we will also be holding a raffle on the night as we look to maximise the donation and awareness that heads the way of what is a fantastic local cause.
We will have guests from the Hospice in attendance at the match, along with two sets of mascots to walk out with the teams ahead of kick-off for what will be a memorable evening both on and off the pitch for our final pre-season friendly.
The Wilderness Boys and all associated with the club are proud to be working alongside such a valued organisation, and our commitment will carry on over the course of the next year, with plenty more fundraising plans in the pipeline, such as a quiz night, player donations upon defeats for the team, and a Christmas gift initiative, so keep an eye on our social media platforms to see how you can get involved throughout the upcoming campaign.
Lauren Flett (Director, Grimsby Borough) -
“Before visiting St Andrew’s Hospice with Nat (Natalie Lingard, Charity Fundraising and Events Coordinator), I’d heard of the work they do and the name was familiar to many people in our area, but seeing the facility first-hand really opened my eyes to the extent of the care and support they provide. The services they offer go far beyond what many people realise. The dedication, compassion and level of care they provide to local families, adults and children during some of the most difficult times in their lives is incredible.
As a community football club, we believe we have a responsibility to do more than just carry a charity's name. We want to build a genuine partnership, one where we can use our platform to raise awareness, bring people together and support the work St Andrew’s Hospice does across our community.
Nat and the team have been fantastic, and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them. I hope this is the beginning of something really special between St Andrew’s Hospice and Grimsby Borough, and that together we can make a real difference throughout the season and beyond."
Samantha Blake (Head of Communications and Marketing, St Andrew's Hospice) -
"We are so grateful for Grimsby Borough's incredible support. They have gone above and beyond, not only through their commitment to raise money for the hospice, but by giving our young patients and their families the opportunity to be involved and make amazing memories.
At St Andrew's Hospice, we aim to make each day count, both by caring for and enriching the lives of our patients and their families.
It costs £7 million each year to operate the hospice, of which just 18% is funded by the government. We rely on the generosity of our community to fund the rest, which would not be possible without organisations like Grimsby Borough.
From everyone at St Andrew's Hospice; thank you. We look forward to working together, and wish Grimsby Borough all the best for a successful season - both on and off the pitch."
Tickets for Tuesday’s ‘Dock Tower Derby’ are on sale at Blundell Park Ticket Office, with prices set at £10 for adults, and £5 for concessions and under-18’s, while you can also pay on the gate on the evening, so be sure not to miss out on what will be an enjoyable night of football in aid of a wonderful charity that benefits so many in our area. We’ll see you there!
