Alfie Taylor signs for The Wilderness Boys.

New Signing....

Grimsby Borough have managed to secure the services of Alfie Taylor for the upcoming Northern Premier League season. Fan’s will be familiar after seeing Alfie at the club in the early stages of last season, on loan from then club – Hull City. Alfie scored a 25yard free kick in our victory away against Bishop Auckland, in a Man of the Match performance before returning to his parent club through injury.

Alfie has been at Hull City’s academy from the age of 9 and progressed through all ages and levels at the club, signing his professional contract in 2022 and being selected for The First Team during the same 2022 season. Alfie was able to enjoy a loan spell with St Patricks Athletic in the League of Ireland Premier Division before being recalled by Hull City later in that season.

We managed to get Alfie Taylor on an unlikely loan last season, where he played every minute in every one of the 17 appearances prior to returning with injury. Alfie then spent the 2nd phase of last season on loan at Cleethorpes Town.

Everyone at the club looks forward to seeing Alfie in in his Boro shirt this season, and we will him all the best for this season ahead.

Jason Flint - Chairman

I am surprised Alfie has become available so early in his career after seeing him play for us last season. He is one of the few loans where you can see a player is from a professional establishment, he possessed quality similar to when we had Cam Gardener where you felt like you’d see someone go on and enjoy a career in the game. That said, I am hoping our Football Club gives Alfie an opportunity to enjoy his football regularly and if he finds some consistency there is absolutely no reason why he cannot continue within the professional environment. I think Alfie compliments the group of players remaining at Grimsby Borough and the new signings made by our Management Team – it’s an exciting squad and it feels very much like a structured rebuild.

Dan Barrett - Manager

We are obviously really pleased to have Alfie back on board with us, full time. He made a huge difference to us when he came on loan last season and was consistent in his performances. Technically gifted with a great passing range, Alf is a very versatile player and can play a number of positions which will be pivotal for us this season. Alfie will be straight into the squad to catch up with our pre-season.
