Management Team Secured for the Long Term

Grimsby Borough Football Club are delighted to confirm that First Team Manager Tom Claisse and Assistant Manager Danny East have committed their futures to the club by signing new agreements for the next three seasons.

Since joining in February, Tom and Danny have made a significant and immediate impact, bringing energy, structure, and a clear direction both on and off the pitch. First Team performances have improved during what has been an extremely challenging transitional period, with positive developments in both the playing squad and the team’s approach to matches. Supporters, home and away, have enjoyed a clear attacking identity in recent weeks that reflects the direction the club is moving in.

Together, they have worked hard to create a strong environment within the squad, fostering togetherness and laying important foundations for the future. Their professionalism, commitment, and alignment with the club’s vision make them a key part of the journey ahead.

This agreement provides stability and allows the club to continue building with confidence, ensuring that the progress made in recent months can be developed further over the coming seasons.

Everyone at the club is excited about what lies ahead and looks forward to supporting Tom, Danny, and the squad as the current season draws to a close and preparations begin for another challenging campaign in the NPL during 2026/27.

Jason Flint (Chairman):

"I’m really pleased that Tom and Danny have committed their futures to Grimsby Borough for the next three seasons. Since arriving at the club in February, they have brought a real sense of direction, organisation, and belief during what has been a challenging transitional period for everyone involved.

It’s been clear to see the improvement in performances on the pitch, but just as importantly, they’ve worked hard behind the scenes to build the right environment and culture within the squad. They understand what we are trying to achieve as a football club and share our vision for moving Grimsby Borough forward to be competitive within the NPL.

Stability is important as we continue to build, and securing Tom and Danny gives us a strong platform heading into next season. They have built a strong relationship with Dave Smith (Director of Football), and I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with them as we prepare for the challenges ahead.

On a personal note, I’d like to congratulate Tom on securing the job. I know how Tom works, but it’s incredibly pleasing to see how the Board, players, staff, and supporters have enjoyed and embraced his approach since coming in."

Dave Smith (Director of Football):

"In extremely difficult circumstances, Tom came in, and his energy, work ethic, and tactical knowledge have helped us navigate the fixture list and deliver results when they were really needed. We have seen an attacking style of play and a great team spirit that we look forward to building on in the future. Easty’s coaching and tactical input have been impressive, and players have improved in a short period of time, so a full pre-season is something the squad will be excited for.

We are fully aligned on the plan going forward, and the work has already started on recruitment to build Tom and Danny’s squad. Myself, Matty, and Jase are already actively discussing the Grimsby Borough pathway, with plans around U23s, U18s, and U17s underway—something that will support our Reserves and generate a local pool of talent that Tom and Easty can oversee. It’s an exciting project, and supporters can expect more positive news in the coming weeks."

Welcome aboard!
